Tech-Bond Solutions
"When performance is a must!"
There is a new game in town; Tech-Bond's "BP Blue".
After years of research, our engineers have developed
a cyanoacrylate that bonds polymers, BP Blue.
BP Blue does not require pre-treating the poly.
Our two step system for gluing polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyurethane, Nylon 6,6, Nylon 7,7, Nylon 7,12, Teflon®, UHMW’s, Delrin®, poly-carbonates, silicone rubber, et al, has worked well for over a dozen years. Yes, the technology has been available for at least that long. However, for many manufacturers, using this two step process has been problematic. Our Poly Prep adds cost and another step in the process, one often difficult to incorporate into a production line.
So our engineers have toiled to develop a glue that will bond the poly's in one easy step ... and succeeded in their goal. BP Blue will bond poly's in one easy step. After bonding, these polymers joins have withstood thermal cycling and all other relevant testing.
A proprietary formula, BP Blue has been shown to work, but, we don't yet have the confidence built by years of performance. BP Blue is manufactured with to the same attention to quality as all of our other structural adhesives, so we can state that, once bonded, the poly will stay bonded. Degradation of the join, even when exposed to the elements will not occur. The power of molecular bonding at work.
We invite manufacturers, engineers, entrepreneurs and individuals, all who have projects where a polymer needs to be glued, to try BP Blue. We are confident that BP Blue will work given enough surface area. Again, successfully gluing polymers always comes down to Physics, i.e., is there enough surface area in the join to withstand the stress that will be applied. The link to purchase BP Blue is given below. .
When to use BP Blue versus the Poly Prep.
A good question. With a fairly easy answer. If all that you are doing is bonding poly's, use BP Blue. If you are gluing a range of materials including poly's, use the Poly Prep in conjunction with a structural adhesive. Yes, BP Blue will bond the metals, wood, rubber, china, porcelain, leather, composites, etc., but it obviously has additives that allow it to work with the Poly's. Our SI structural adhesives are 99%+ pure glue. Logic tells you that an SI bond has to be stronger. However, our testing, which generates conservative numbers, gives the same strength index to BP Blue as it does our SI Blue and SI Black.
There is a common example regarding using BP Blue versus the use of an SI product with the Poly Prep. Shampoo comes in two basic variations, shampoo only and shampoo with conditioner added. Those that consider themselves shampoo purists would never use a shampoo with a conditioner. Others have no problem using a combined product, the choice is up to you. Our recommendation for the general user is still to have and use the Poly Prep for polyolefins and the other space age polymers.
