Threadlockers - an underutilized solution.


Threadlockers prevent nut-bolt connections from coming loose when subjected to continuous vibration
                                ... but Threadlockers do so much more! 

Threadlockers prevent corrosion.  Using a Threadlocker makes a join airtight, preventing oxidation and the accompanying rust and corrosion. 

Threadlockers seal nut joint connections, preventing bond failure in liquid environments.  Water corrodes, so use a Threadocker to seal and prevent leakage from developing in a liquid environment.  Sealing extends the life of a nut-bolt connection.

Threadlockers are recommended for

  • Metal fasteners up to 1" (25 mm) in diameter, such as; bolts on decks, ready-to-assemble furniture, engine mounts, rings, gear and frame bolts.
  • Environments where substantial vibration is the norm.
  • Wherever there is substantial moisture.
  • When longevity is intended.  
  • Where a sealant is needed because the connection is in a liquid environment.

Threadlockers are not recommended for

  • Plastic parts, particularly thermoplastic materials where stress cracking of the plastic could result.
  • Environments of pure oxygen and/or oxygen rich systems.
  • Should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing liquids and/or materials.
Tech-Bond's Threadlockers

TL42
Use TL42 when you may want to be able to disassemble or undo the nut-bolt connection with normal hand tools.  A.medium strength threadlocker, TL42 is particularly suited for stainless steel and plated surfaces, where disassembly is required for servicing.

TL71
When then nut-bolt connection is intended to be permanent, TL71 is the solution.  A high strength solution, once cured TL71 is only removable through heating the parts to 500°F (260°C).

TL90 
TL90  is used on pre-assembled pieces.  Thin enough to wick into already completed nut-bolt connections to offer the protection of a threadlocker to that nut-bolt connection.
